First visit to Batam

260310 - 270310
Batam getaway
Went for a short trip with Wawa, Sandy & Vin over the weekend. As this was our first trip to Batam, we did some research of the place before he headed there.
We stayed at Harris Resort which was ranked 3rd by the Trip Advisor website. Harris Resort is located very near to the ferry terminal and seems to be very popular with S'poreans. The service rendered by the staff was kinda impressive and I can feel that they put in the effort to make their customers feel welcomed.

On our way to Batam. Excited!

The lovey dovey couple

View from the resort

As the restaurants and massage charges in resort was pretty steep, we decided to take a cab to Nagoya Hill to have our lunch and massage.

Knowing that we would like to have Nasi Padang, the cab driver drove us to a restaurant (though we didn't request) which he claimed that the Nasi Padang was famous and delicious. Truly speaking, I didn't enjoy this meal because I felt that restaurant owner and the cab driver were in cahoots to cheat us. If not for the fact that Wawa can speak Malay and asked them for the price of the dishes before we ate, we could have paid a bomb for the meal!

We were so happy to see A&W when we reached Nagoya Hill. It has been ages since I had their waffle and curry fries. Such a nostalgic feeling as I used to have it every week after church when I was young... I wonder why A&W pulled out of the SG market.

Wawa was trying to be funny

Walking around Nagoya Hil before our massage

Ayam Taluk Goreng

Greedy Wawa and I decided to try it despite the fact we just had our Nasi Padang and A&W

We went to Isabella for 3 hours full body scrub and massage. As we took the couple package, there was free transport around the city and back to our resort. Super good deal! We asked the driver to bring us to the polo shop and to Golden Prawn for our seafood dinner.

Fabulous!

The loving couple was so excited to try the food

My shopping for the day...can't believe I actually bought instant noodles back to SG, so auntified!

We woke up at 7.30am the next day for our breakfast. As the buffet breakfast was a disppointment (or it is because I was being too fussy after staying in Hilton -KL for 3 days before my Batam trip?), I went for a swim after having half a waffle and omelette.

After swim and breakfast, we actually went up to our room to nuah before we went for our foot reflexology session in which Wawa was crying in pain. Hahaha

Our last picture before we checked out

We went for an early dinner at Bei Tong Chuan in Vivocity. Though the steamboat buffet is $19.90++, there are lots of hidden cost. They charge $1 for plain water and $0.30 for a packet of tissue...can't believe it! The seafood was not very fresh. I think only the chicken wings, mango pudding and crackers are worth eating.

Kelantan Delight @ Sooka Sentral

250310
Dinner @ Kelantan Delight (Sooka Sentral) - KL
After a long day of training, Ola and I wanted to have some nice local food to fill our stomach. While walking around Sooka Sentral, we chanced upon this restaurant which had a banner "best halah restaurant" being placed at the entrance and we decided to give it a try.
The appetitiser which is supposed to be eaten like this

Both Ola and I enjoyed the appetiser. In fact, I was kinda surprised that the appetiser tasted so tasted sooo good as I was expecting the leaves to taste slight bitter (but NO!).

The "blue" rice. It tasted like the rice on the nonya kueh (or is it the same?) Slightly hard but still kinda tasty

Tom Yam coconut - A very unique dish which I highly recommended!

Paris Day 2

Turn back time
Paris Day2
140210

Sadly, this was also the last day of our Paris trip. We rushed back to SG after receiving my dad's sms that my grandpa was critically ill in hospital.

Nevertheless, we did have fun in the Disneyland in Paris (though not enough as we only conquer less than a quarter of it).
On the RER train to DisneyLand at Marne La Vallée–Chessy train station from Paris city centre. Due to jet-lag, we woke up at 5.30am and left for Disneyland at 8am...seemed Kiasu, but was unintentional. =P

This was my first visit to Disneyland Paris.
I love going to Disneyland as I feel as if I have immersed myself in a fantasy world.

Lovely, isn't it?

We queued for about 15 mins just to take photo with Mickey.

I wonder how babies can brave themselves in the open in cold countries

The candies looked so beautiful...seemed as if they were meant to be admired rather than eaten.

Taking photo while queueing for our first ride.

Look @ the thick snow. It was really freezing!

Cold! It was -3 degrees!
My last picture in Disneyland before we headed back to hotel to pack our bags

Skin Renewal Facial @ Asian Skin Solutions

290310
Asian Skin Solutions
Orchard Towers
Though my appointment was at 7pm, I only managed to reached there at 7.45pm due to work contraints. Actually, I was pretty surprised that they were willing to wait for me when I told them that I will be late. Angelsky8, the spa which I am with for the past 6 years, is not so accomodating. Thus, this is really a plus point coz my working hours can be unpredictable at times. =)

Steps of the Skin Renewal Facial which I did just now:
  1. Double Cleansing
  2. Scrub - The beautician use a pineapple scrub which smells good and is gentle on the skin
  3. Steam - She put some lotion on my face which helps in getting rid of the dirt in the pores
  4. Scrubber - This machine is supposed to replace manual extraction of blackheads and whiteheads.
  5. 979 - This is a high frequency machine which is supposed to help in skin renewal (don't ask me why it is called 979 coz I don't know!). She uses aloe vera gel while running the machine on my face
  6. Shoulder & Hand Massage
  7. Cucumber Mask
  8. Vitamin C Mask
  9. Toner & Special Solution - The special solution is supposed to be very popular in Japan.

So how do I feel after the facial?

Generally, the service is quite good and I hope that this service level will be maintain, if not, improve. However, I was kinda disappointed that the beautician didn't manage to use the scrubber to get rid of some of the oil seeds on my skin as she was too gentle (the previous beautician who did the facial for me last week managed to do that). Well, let's see whether I will have a better experience the next time...

Weird Feeling

260310
SQ119

For a moment, I developed a fear for aircraft take-off.
I don't reckon that I have this phobia in the past...since I was a crew previously. I didn't know why I suddenly held on the arm-rest so tightly as if I was going to fly out of my seat.
I was so scared that I wanted to scream, but of cos, I held back.
The feeling was so weird.

Dinner before Doha

220310
Saizeriya
Liang Court
Dinner before FK flies to Doha for 2 weeks

These were chosen by FK. The garlic naan is a must try!

Strangely, I don't know why I like to order Squid Ink pasta. Generally, squid ink pasta doesn't taste WOW (just ok) but I simply like to eat it. Do I like it because of the colour?
BTW, never order Squid Ink Pasta from Olio Dome! It is totally disappointing!

Horfun wrapped in Newspaper

For the first time, I see food being wrapped in newspaper.
I don't think you will ever get to see this in SG...

The beef Horfun is delicious. So what if the packing is not nice? =P

My first visit to Asian Skin Solutions

I was supposed to try out their O2 facial treatment which is recommended by Xiaxue: http://xiaxue.blogspot.com/2010/03/your-asian-skin-solution.html

But I ended up signing up for 10 sessions of Skin Renewal & 10 sessions of Collagen treatment...without even trying the O2 facial. Ok, you must be thinking that I am damn impulsive again. Well, to cut the story short, I will not mention all the "proclaimed benefits" of the Skin Renewal and Collagen treatment which the sales lady, Jest, has shared with me. Afterall, these are all sales tactics right?

Yes, I will blog about each of the treatment after I have tried it. This is a review of a true consumer so stay tune!

Sunday High-tea

210310
High-tea @ Zhou Kitchen
Finally I get the try the high-tea at Zhou Kitchen!
FK, thanks for making the reservation 2 days in advance.
And of cos not forgetting to thank you for the treat.
I will promise to treat you to a good meal when I get my B. Hehehe...
It was pouring heavily when we were having our high-tea. At that moment, I really felt so blessed and glad that I was indoors, enjoying my food and happily chatting with FK.

I am always excited when I get to eat! Greedy me!

Wow..we had so much food.
Anyway, we went to the gym before we indulged in all these. Calories are back to our body. =P
Well, but I always believe that it is always better to exercise and eat. And not eat and don't exercise. Duh! Therefore, our gym session was still pretty useful to keep our weight in check ya!

FK was caught by surprise. Look at his oily mouth..hahaha..

I was stuffed!
I have enjoyed my weekend. Went for a 2 hours massage at Thai Odessey at JB with FK & VC yesterday and had such a nice meal today. Life with such simple pleasures can really delight me. =)
Looking forward to my Batam trip next weekend. Massage & Seafood, here I come!

17 March 2010

For some, this is a day of commendation and contentment. While for others, it is a day of condemnation and bitterness.

Well, I count myself lucky to get the recognition.

Breakout 2010

130310
Breakout 2010 - Korean Extreme Dance Comedy
Esplanade Theatre

Since last year, FK had been bugging me to watch Breakout with him. Honestly, I wasn't excited when he told me that he managed to get the tickets for Breakout 2 weeks ago. In fact, I remembered that my response to him was like "err..ok". And I knew that he was aware that I wasn't really interested. Haha...

Well, after watching the show, I could finally understand why he was so eager to get the tickets. Breakout 2010 was simply amazing! This was so entertaining that I even complained to FK that the show was too short coz I hadn't had enough of it!

From the producers of "Jump", "Breakout is a newly designed nonverbal dynamic comedy performance mixed with extreme break-dancing, based on a story of prisoners breaking out of prison and finding shelter with some nuns and nurses in a convent. It is a show that you will not regret watching it!

We were seated quite far away from the stage but yet, the performers never failed to entertain us

Having some snacks @ Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe before the show

Taking picture with the mini-poster coz it was too early for us to enter the theatre

My favourite Goreng Pisang

For a non banana eater, I am kinda surprised that I can be addicted to goreng pisang. In fact, I had 2 goreng pisang less than an hour after my lunch...woohoo..so greedy!

This addictive goreng pisang can be found in the hawker centre below the army market (opposite Golden Mile).

Ta Da!
Yummy yummy!

Hungry!?!

The last meal was at 1pm when I had Chicken Horfun (which is surprisingly super delicious as I am not a chicken fan) & Horlicks dinosaur. It is 11.33pm now and my stomach is growling...I gonna be determine not to eat as I will definitely have nightmare if I sleep with a filled stomach. Furthermore, it is also very fattening to eat at this hour...Just imagine all the fats growing on my body when I am sleeping. Yucks!

God, please grant me the determination to bear with the hunger

元宵節 cum Feb Babies Celebration

280210
Steamboat @ Bibi's place
Tampines St 33

After planning for about 2 weeks, we managed to finalise a date for annual CNY dinner and to celebrate the birthdays of the Feb babies.

In preparation for the steamboat

Let's dig in!

Oh..it was my idea to include Seaweed chicken and Taiwan Sausage in our steamboat...very unconventional ya...

I was the 'fake' birthday baby.

Did you notice the article 'Women lose 90% of eggs by age 30'? Luckily, we have not reached 30 yet...though will be very soon. =P

The Feb birthday babies: Serene, Yuling & Cerine
Haha...I will forever be younger than you!
The forever pretty AHS sports class ladies
Thanks Jun for loading the pictures in FB!
