Gold Coast Day 1

100810
SIN - Gold Coast via Qantas
Took an overnight flight via Qantas to brisbane, followed by an hour bus journey to Gold Coast.
This was my 2nd time in Gold Coast, though I travelled to brisbane kinda often when I was a crew. The layover period was short for SQ crew (and I think it is still short now !?!) and thus I didn't really get a chance to explore the state when I was on duty travel.

We stayed in Mantra Legends, which is located in Surfers Paradise. Kinda glad to be able to check-in upon arrival (though the check-in time is supposed to be 2pm and we were at the hotel at 9ish in the morning) as we were both in need for a good rest before we can explore Surfer Paradise sanely.

Lovely hotel room...

there is even an oven in the room for us to heat up our food!

View from our room

Can't wait to take picture in the room

We had our first meal in Gold Coast at this restaurant cum jackpot place called Vegas In Paradise. I was kinda surprised that jackpot is so popular in Australia...I always thought that it is an Asian pastime (why did I have that idea !?! Beats me...)

Fish & chips...this became our staple food in Australia

Such a huge Hawailian Pizza, I couldn't believe that both FK & I finished it!

Delighted me!
We began to explore Surfers Paradise after our meal...woohoo!

Taking pictures @ Hard Rock Cafe

Ended the day with a few tops from Valleygirl for me & a few fridge magnets for FK (I think he bought about a dozen magnet during our Aussie trip!!!).

Sugar Biscuits

Whine, whine, whine & hohoho...I get what I want.
Was being really irritating and forcing FK to get me a tin of sugar biscuits.

Competitive

Since young, I have always been very competitive. Not sure whether it is characteristic which is built in my DNA or whether I am being nurture in a way that I always have a strong urge to win(since I have been competitively involved in sports throughout my teenage years).

Honestly, I don't think that I can take setback easily as I don't like the idea of losing to others. But don't get me wrong, it is not jealousy...but rather I want my life to be perfect and losing to others is a form of imperfection that I don't want to tolerate.

Delightful Tampopo

Tampopo @ Liang Court
A super happy day for me so I decided to give FK a treat at Tampopo.
Ok, this sounds random...but I just wanna wish everyone good health!
Never compromise it with anything ya!

Haji Lane
&
Golden Mile Complex
Haji Lane is a place where you can find many unique stuff which are designed or imported by local designers and aspiring entrepreneurs. With its vintage look and feel, it is also a popular place among photographers who love to capture vintage shots.
Shop & took some pictures @ Haji Lane before to head to Golden Mile Complex for dinner with Duncan & Iris

Our steamboat dinner @ Golden Mile Complex.

Supposedly very popular (it has been there about more than 20 years!) but I think the soupbase is not really up to my standard. I prefer the yuan yang steamboat at Roxy Square.

And interestingly, the menu doesn't show the price...so you may be in for surprise (or shock) when you see the bill...

Hong Kong Day 3

260610
The highlights of the day were Yung Kee & Tai Cheong. Went to Central to search for them.

We were unable to get up the shuttle bus coz there were tons of "C" people in front of us! Gonna wait for the next one which was 20 minutes later. Took pictures while waiting...

Tai Cheong egg tarts, something which I will never miss when I go to Hong Kong

My love

Gonna brave through the rain to get to the restaurant

Had a sumptuous meal @ Yung Kee

Farewell @ Timbre

080710
Timbre @Art House
Our dearest Le Yi is leaving the division to join our subsidary company. Good for her, she can finally pursue her passion which is...Finance! Haha, doesn't sound very interesting ya! Nevertheless, that is what she has studied in university and thus, should not let her knowledge goes to waste. Hmm...I am a communications graduate but all my past and present jobs have nothing to with communications...wasted my $48k and 4 years. =P
Food for the day

The calamari and roasted duck pizza are my favourite

Why did Rayner look so emotionless? The ladies seemed so happy

& this was the group across the table:

Where was Le Yi?

Went to get phone no. from the bartender? Oopps...

Curly wee & his weird expression...

-_-

It is pretty annoying to receive sms/calls from friends to ask you to contribute a mutual "friend" birthday pressie, housewarming gift, blah, blah, blah, etc...when the so-called mutual good "friend" doesn't even give a damn to buy/chip in for my pressie, gift, etc...

Not that I wanna be calcutive (though, I do sound like I am), but I don't like to subject myself to such peer pressure of having to please people. I do cherish my friends and am willing to go the extra mile of making them happy by buying them gifts or giving them treats...but I will only do that for friends whom I think are worthy of my time and attention. Not those ah mao, ah gou who don't even give a damn of my life.

Hong Kong Day 2

250610
Hong Kong - Disneyland

Woke up at 6am (so that we can take the earliest shuttle bus at 7am) to go for dim sum before going to Disneyland but to our disappointment, the dim sum restaurant only open at 9am. We were more than an hour early!

We decided to give it a miss and make our way to Disneyland.

Disappointment no. 1: No dim sum
Excitement before disappointment
Yes, we were too early for Disneyland too. The Disneyland in HKG only opens at 10am and the rides are only available at 10.30am!

I have been to so many Disneylands around the world and none of them open so late! OMG, wasted our time lazing at the entrance...
Disappointment No. 2: Waiting time of 1 hour for Disneyland to start operations

Before entering Disneyland

Ok, you should have guess the 3rd disappointment by now...

Disappointment no. 3: HKG Disneyland is miserably small as compared to the rest of the Disneyland around the world

Well, it is also less crowded. We didn't even take a single fastpass coz there wasn't a need to...For those popular rides, the max waiting time was only around 15 - 20 minutes. =)

Only spent half a day in Disneyland, went shopping at Tung Chung after that...
Sighz, the Tough outlet at Tung Chung has moved! Didn't manage to buy the Tough bag. =(

Day 2 purchase

I love my Staccato Shoes!

HSBC Thumbs-down!

I seriously wonder how HSBC managed to score so well for the Gallup Survey. Their contact centre really sucks big time! Called 4 times in June and were told that the staff will call me back within the next few working days...but nobody did! There must be something seriously wrong with their communication process. Come on, this is not the way to treat your customers!

Hong Kong Day 1

240610
SIN-HKG via Cathay Pacific
We has been planning for this HKG trip since March and finally we managed to travel together. =)
Our day 1 in HKG is just about shopping & having street snacks at Mongkok & Prince Edward. Staying at Harbour Plaza 8 degree, a hotel which was located kinda far from town, we have to leave the bustling districts at 10 pm (so that we can catch the last shuttle bus at 10.20pm at Tsim Sha Tsui), which is kinda a spoilsport as HKG is a place filled with active night life.

Though this was my 12th visit to HKG (my last visit was in November'09), I still love visiting the country and managed to try something new such as the mango sago drink (which I really liked it!) and the pepper handmade noodles (which was too hot for me to finish the entire bowl)

My boarding pass - Change of seat from 51C to 54G.

The ground staff told us that the inflight entertainment systems at our original seats weren't working and thus, they had to change our seats. However, when we were onboard the flight, we realised that the inflight entertainment systems at 51A - C were working perfectly fine. In fact, there were passengers seated our original seats. Puzzled...did the ground staff lie to us as some other passengers wanted our seats? If so, they must be really stupid to have done that. Come on, we aren't blind k!

Camwhoring before we reach HKG

In the airport transfer bus to the hotel.

We were supposed to take the 1.15pm bus but we missed it as the bus co-ordinator simply ignore us when we asked him to show us to our bus. Gotta wait for about 30 mins for the next one so was having buns in the airports to curb our hunger.

Habour Plaza 8 Degree - our hotel room
There were urine stains on the toilet bowl when we check-in to the room. I have stayed in so many hotels before and this was the first time I had such an unpleasant experience. The housekeeping staff need to be more vigilant in ensuring that such incidents don't happen again. It creates a very negative first impression.
