Yummilicious @ Golden Spoon

260210
Golden Spoon - 62 Seng Poh Lane

This was supposed to be our annual cny Lou Sang session but we didn't lou coz there were only four of us (Te, Dan & Shervin can't make it) and we reckoned that it would be wiser to indulge in the specialities of this restuarant instead.

This restaurant is highly recommended by Sze Yong who claimed that he doesn't mind getting gout after indulging in the food. And yes, I do agree that the food is really good.

The four who turned up

Sad face coz 3 of them abandoned us

Here comes the food..Ta da!

Crab bee hoon - This is one of the nicest been hoon I have ever tried and the crab claws are huge!

Greedy me took the claw! Haha...

Golden chicken - The dish is not in the menu and those who want to have it have to call a day in advance to order. Well, I conclude that it is not worth the effort...though this dish is pretty unique (there are fish cakes in between the chicken slices), I think that the restaurant have a lot of other nicer dishes who one can order to indulge. =P

Cereal Tofu - This is a must try! Though I am not a tofu lover, I believe that I can finish the entire plate. It is soooo delicious....

As Golden Spoon was pretty noisy (there were a group of uncles chatting and drinking beside us), we decided to proceed to the TCC in Roberson Quay for desserts and drinks. It was a mistake as the TCC in Roberson Quay was very crowded and we ended up getting an "invisible" table which was outside the restaurant. Well, I deemed it as "invisible" as staff didn't seem to recognise that we were there...gotta wave frantically at them for water and gotta wait more than half an hour for our drinks (those customers who reached there later got their drinks before us!)

My healthy berries yoghurt drink which I waited for more than half an hour

The ladies & the guys

Pressie from Delhi

Books in India are super cheap...so I requested FK to get this book for me at New Delhi.

I love the movie and thus, I reckon the book will be interesting too.
I am into Chapter 3 now and I am still enjoying it. =)

Ladies nite @ Souperlicious

230210

Went for dinner with Amy & Grace at this newly opened restaurant – Souperlicious at City Link mall. Concept of this restaurant is very similar to The Soup Spoon.

I had the set #2 which consists of a soup, half sandwich, lemon tea and cookie which cost $10.60...relatively reasonable
My rating:
Soup (mushroom): 4/5
Sandwich (teriyaki chicken): 4/5
Cookie (oatmeal): 2/5 (quite a disppointment as compared to the Subway Oatmeal raisin)

Creamy mushroom soup

Tokyo Sandwich - Teriyaki Chicken

Really glad to meet up with Amy and Grace and to know that they are coping well with the new phase of their lives - Amy just started working again and Grace is happily married for about 2 months already. Miss them lots...it is a pity that Mary can't join us.
We took some pictures after our meal...
Amy used Photoscape to edit our photos..lovely!

Jealous me

FK was back from New Delhi yesterday but gonna fly to Hyderabad again tomorrow.

Yes he is living like a life of an air crew (though he will probably lament if he is one coz too many Indian flights..Haha..) while I am stuck here in S'pore, spending at least 8 hours a day facing the office PC. Damn!

And he told me that he may be posted to Shanghai for 2 months after he is back from Hyderabad. Damn Damn! Why am I always the one which doesn't have the opportunity for overseas experience? I am super jealous!

Paris Day 1

Paris Day 1
130210
This is the first time
  • I travelled on a F&E trip to Paris (though it is my 3rd time to Paris)
  • I took a public transport at the CDG airport to central Paris
  • I experienced snow in Paris (it is -4 degree!)
  • I had to drag a 20kg luggage along the streets in Opera till my arm became numb due to the weight of the luggage and the cold wind (Phew...luckily we managed to find the hotel in less than half an hour)

Timetable of the Roissy bus which we took from CDG airport to central paris.
It is kinda convenient to take the Roissy bus if you stay near to Opera. It cost only 9.10 euro per person (1 way)

We took some pictures while waiting for the Roissy bus to arrive

Though we reached the hotel at about 12 noon, we decided to just roam around the Opera area (which is within the vicinity of our hotel) for the day as all of us are kinda tired. If we had known that we had to shorten our trip, we would brave through all tireness and sight-seeing till we drop!

Taken outside our hotel - Hotel Louvre Marsollier Opera. The hotel manager offered to take the picture for us.

My head looked so small with the ear cover. =(

The nearest metro station is Quatre Septembre.
The metro stations are actually pretty close to each other. We just need to walk for about 5 minutes and we will reach the next metro station which is Opera

Taken at the billboard beside Quatre Septembre

The Hotel Manager told us that St Valentine's Day is very special day in Paris and true enough, the Galeries Lafayette was packed with people who seemed to be buying some last min pressies for their love ones.

Movie Review: Valentine's Day

Watch this show with SB yesterday.

An intertwining storyline of a group of Los Angelenos finding love on Valentine's day

Simple and light-hearted plot. Great to watch if you just wish to relax

I rate it 3.5/5

Lufthansa NOT ever again! Worst experience ever!

Reasons why I will NOT want to travel on Lufthansa ever again:
  1. No personal inflight entertainment system even for long flights (eg: S'pore to Frankfurt) - The entire cabin has to share 4 little TVs. Pathetic right?
  2. Miserable leg room space - If someone with average height of 1.63m thinks that the leg room is small, what about those who are relatively tall?

  3. Damaged luggage - Yes, the airline damaged my luggage and I have proof! (see below) And they insisted that I sent the luggage to their Paris agent for repair. Hello! I am a tourist. How do you expect me to be so familiar with Paris and know where your agent is located?

  4. The side of my luggage was cut...not sure whether someone did it deliberately or not coz it seemed like it was cut by a pen knife

The cover for the left wheel was broken

Close-up pix of the broken cover

  5. Refused to refund my unused portion of travel, not even the taxes! - I am feeling damn sore that the airline is taking advantage of the situation (that my grandpa is critically ill and I gotta fly back immediately from Paris and thus, unable to utilise the Paris - Berlin and Berlin - Spore flights) and refuses to assist me to get back the refund which I am entitled to! And FYI, I didn't buy a promotional ticket!

This is the first time I am so disappointed with an airline and I strongly conclude that Lufthansa is the worst airline I have ever taken. I am definitely going to announce it to all my friends! If you want a BAD experience, go take Lufthansa!

Forecast for 2010: Rooster

The Rooster
The Rooster is always popular, extravagant and creative.. They can be brutally honest and generally like being showered with attention. They are wonderfully loyal friends and also give advice freely – whether they are asked for it or not! Family means the world to the Rooster and they are fiercely loyal to those they care about.

Forecast for 2010
The Year of the Tiger will have mixed fortunes for the Rooster, but by staying calm, observant and flexible, the Rooster will glide through 2010 coming out much wiser, stronger and with great success behind him. He will be in much demand for his sage advice and experience and, at work, this will come to the notice of his employer. Many will also decide to go back to college this year or completely change the direction of their career. Travel features quite strongly with the Rooster seeking out adventure, fun and new places to visit. A word of caution: all Roosters must ensure that they don’t overdo things – exhaustion and a depleted immune system will result if proper rest isn’t taken. Home life will bring many joys and will be seen as a cosy sanctuary throughout the year. The Spring months and November and December will be excellent for intimate romantic encounters.. March and July to October will be the optimum time for making career decisions or to change jobs.

Interesting Rooster Facts:
Zodiac Stone: Citrine
Special Flower: Aster
Best Hours: 5-7 pm
Season: Autumn
Horoscope Colors: Orange, Green

Don't know why I am toying with the idea of becoming a cabin crew again...Perhaps I feel really deprived of travelling. But of coz, I will not want to return to SQ (not that they will want me back) or join those other airlines that serve only regional flight. In fact, I already have an airline which I wanna join in mind and this airline is having a recruitment exercise on 27th Feb. The problem is whether I am willing to give up my current career and spend a few years to pursue my hobby?

Disruptive Tiger Year?

The Tiger year doesn't seem to be a good year for me. Was supposed to enjoy my Europe trip with mum and sis during cny but gotta rush back after spending 2 days and 1 nite in Paris as grandpa is critically ill.

When we left for Europe on Friday, grandpa seemed to have recovered from his previous procedure of stem insertion in his body. Not sure why is there water in grandpa's lungs that causes him to have breathing difficulty. He is now in High Dependency Ward and gotta undergo another operative preocedure tomorrow...sighz...lets hope for the best.

Zirca/Rebel Nite

After 2 weeks for intensive Kaizen, I went for a cheap but sumptuous meal at Just Acia with Wawa, Sandy and Vin, followed by partying at Zirca/Rebel. The music at Zirca/Rebel was good...pity that we were kinda tired after work so didn't stay for very long.

All 3 of us have different hair colour.
If I dye my hair green, will we look like traffic light?

Act cute?

The loving couple.

Damn! Someone farted

Upset

I have been going to the hospital so frequently for the past 2 months. First, it was my neighbour, Adrian...and now is my grandpa. Sighz...I really dislike the place and I don't want my family and friends to stay there. Am feeling really upset when dad told us that grandpa has a tumour in his stomach just now. Please let the tumour be benign so that major surgery is not required.
